Cypress Creek Vineyards were established in 2003 and are still in the infancy stage. We are planting various varieties of muscadine grapes on the old family tobacco farm. The farm has been in the family for over a century. Since the farm ceased tobacco operations many years ago, we have been leasing out the land to near by farmers. We have had a facination with vineyards and wine making for many years and after much research and visiting many of the local vineyards in the southeastern region of North Carolina, the mucadine grape became the obvious choice for us to produce.
The grape is native to the region, in fact it is the state fruit of North Carolina and thrives in the hot and humid coatal plain region. The "Mother vine" is located near Cape Hatteras and at one time covered nearly two acres of land. It was discovered by Sir Walter Raleigh.
Future Plans...
We hope to build a small on site winery in the future as the vines mature and funds allow. We will keep you updated on further developements.
Best Regards and thank you for visiting "the Creek".
